Late RB Basnet was born on June 21, 1948, in the village of Bockrey, Chirang, Bhutan. At that time, Bhutan lacked formal secondary educational institutions. As such, his father enrolled him in a boarding school in Kalimpong, India—the Scottish Universities Mission Institute (SUMI). At SUMI, Mr. Basnet distinguished himself academically and graduated as a Dux Holder, a title awarded to top performing students.

Devibhakta Lamitare hailed from Lapshibote village in the Chirang district and was born in 1937 AD. His spiritually affluent family, known as the Lamitare of Bara Jumsa, were hereditary Hindu priests. His father, Tikaram, was a well-respected Karmakandi priest (ritual expert) as well as a farmer. Devibhakta was the sixth child of Tikaram and Himadevi.

Dr. Bhampa Rai was born to father Aita Raj Rai and Mother Sun Maya Rai in Bara block, Samchi, Bhutan on February 1, 1950. He was the elder of two sons. Dr. Rai earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Guwahati University in Assam. He subsequently pursued advanced medical training in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons (FRCS), a prestigious professional qualification conferred upon practicing surgeons. After completing his education in 1976, Dr. Rai commenced his professional career as a surgeon at the Thimphu General Hospital. In addition to his regular job, he held the esteemed position of a Royal Surgeon, providing medical care to members of the Royal Family of Bhutan. Renowned for his dedication, work ethic, and professional competence, he earned great professional success and recognition within the medical community. Dr. Rai continued his service in the government of Bhutan until he left the country in 1990.

Late Kishore Rai was born on February 22, 1957 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His father Mr. Maha Prasad Rai was a British army and his mother Mamu Rai, was a housewife. His father was famously known as ‘alyaichey jetha’ in Sarbhang area for pioneering large scale cardamom farming and marketing the produce to India. Kishor went to Saint Roberts Higher Secondary School in Darjeeling. After graduating with a High School Diploma, he returned to Bhutan to become a contractor and businessman.

Late Mon Bahadur Chhetri, born in August 1966, was the third son of Mr. Tilak Bahadur Chhetri and Mrs. Ajit Lepcha of Duarpani village, Samchi, Bhutan.

Late Rongthong Kinley Dorjee was born and raised in the Shemgang district of central Bhutan, a region that is home to the indigenous Kheng people, to which he belonged. His early life was profoundly shaped by the teachings of Buddhism, which deeply influenced his worldview.
