Biography
Narayan Phuyal Sharma serves as The BRAIN’s founding board member and its Research Director. Originally belonging to Gelephu Bhutan, Sharma was resettled in USA under the Bhutanese refugee resettlement program undertaken by the US government and is currently a US citizen. He holds the degrees of Master of Laws (LL.M) and Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) from National Law School of India University, Bangalore in India. Additionally, he has a Master of Law (LL.M) degree from Georgetown University in Washington DC with a specialization in International Law and Human Rights. Mr. Sharma also holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from Philadelphia based Drexel University’s Thomas R Thomas R Kline School of Law. A recipient of Senator Roxanne Jones Fellowship, Sharma’s areas of interest include Refugee issues, Human Rights, International Law, Jurisprudence, Bhutan studies and issues involving migration studies, nationalism, identity and other related issues.
